Coach Chelsea is a Hampton native and the mother of 3 kids, including a set of twins. She found her love for functional fitness in 2014 after losing her dad to a brief battle with cancer. CrossFit helped her regain her self-confidence after multiple pregnancies and burn off the every day stresses of life. She quickly realized how sharing her experiences through CrossFit could benefit so many others. In 2015, she became a coach. Since then she has continued her education through CrossFit and nutrition. “My passion is helping people improve their quality of life.” After years of coaching she developed a specific vision for helping others, but it could not be best obtained by working for someone else. That is when she actively pursued opening her own affiliate. As Greg Glassman (the founder of CrossFit) said, it’s about “doing the right things for the right people, for the right reasons.” Chelsea decided to build her business in Buckroe Beach because of its location and uniqueness. CrossFit Buckroe Beach was founded in February 2019. Chelsea aspires to offer a gym unlike any other in the area. “It’s a smaller CrossFit Box focused on going back to the basics – where CrossFit started. We all know each other by name and our children grow and play together while we grow together as a health conscience community.”

He asks his athletes this question to gain insight and understanding about what they hope to achieve from his classes. “I truly enjoy coaching CrossFit and helping people with their physical goals, as well as being a part of the CrossFit Community.

Coach Lorie is an active duty member of the United States Air Force stationed at Langley Air Force Base. She has lived in Hampton for 3 years. Lorie is originally from Murrieta, California. She is a mother to her four legged best friend Camille, an Australian Cattle Dog Blue Heeler. Lorie was always a gym rat and did the typical “globo gym” routine. She was introduced to CrossFit in 2011 and, like most newbies, drank the “kool-aid” quickly. “I wanted to learn more about the sport, it’s community and lifestyle. In 2012 Lorie received her CrossFit Level 1 certification. From 2012-2015 she co-owned a military CrossFit affiliate on Osan Air Force Base in South Korea. This is where she began coaching and became interested in training competitively. She had the opportunity to compete in elite levels of CrossFit. Now stateside, Lorie strives to take her coaching to the next level while continually preparing for the “unknown and the unknowable.” She is excited to continue her growth with the coaches at CrossFit Buckroe Beach while helping it’s community grow. Lorie believes that everyone should feel comfortable in their own bodies no matter their level of fitness. "Live fit and be happy doing it! I want anyone and everyone to feel that when they walk into CrossFit Buckroe Beach. So let’s do this and enjoy doing it together!”

Coach Julie is a native of Marshall, Minnesota. She grew up active in many different sports and is also a musician. In 2007, she joined the U.S. Navy right out of high school and served active duty as a shipboard firefighter for 5 years. She met her husband Jack while in the navy. They have been married since 2016 and welcomed their daughter, Charlotte, in 2018.
Julie has a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education, currently teaches voice and piano and has many students across the peninsula. When her husband was stationed in Norfolk in 2016, she found a military CrossFit affiliate on Fort Eustis and began her CrossFit journey. She appreciated the functionality of the sport and the spirit of the community which kept bringing her back. While Julie loves performing music on the stage, she also loves the competitive nature and various opportunities for personal challenge that CrossFit brings to her life. Since starting her journey in CrossFit, she has competed in local CrossFit competitions, triathlons, and just finished her first half marathon.
Julie decided to get her Level 1 certificate in May of 2019 because of the impact CrossFit had had in her own life and to help others. She loves how CrossFit is scalable to every individual, no matter their fitness level, and she is excited to coach both those who are just starting out on their fitness journey and those who have been on their journey for years.

Coach Beau was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that causes decreased lung function and difficulty gaining weight. In high school he ran on the cross country team in an effort to keep his lungs clear. Today, he still runs and he has participated in many 5Ks and several half marathons, including the Hawaii X-TERRA World Championship trail run in 2015, in which he placed 3rd in his age group. Since that race, Beau's lung function declined considerably, so he had to find other ways to maintain his health. Beau decided to try CrossFit as an alternative to running. He found it to be extremely beneficial for his strength and health because of its variety. He enjoyed it so much that 6 months later he began understudying and pursuing his Level I CrossFit certificate. Beau wants to share the benefits of CrossFit with anyone who is interested. His goal is "to share the benefits this dynamic sport has to offer and to change lives through group fitness while motivating and challenging people to do more than they think they can."
